Mount Tibrogargan Circuit
Challenge yourself with the 4.5 km Mount Tibrogargan Circuit, perfect for hiking, running, or a casual stroll. The trek takes about 1 hour and 17 minutes to complete, offering incredible views and a chance to spot native wildlife. Open year-round, this trail never disappoints no matter the season. Just be sure to leave your furry friends at home—dogs aren’t allowed here.
Wild Horse Mountain Lookout
One of the most accessible mountains in the range, Wild Horse offers a lookout with stunning views of the surrounding peaks. It’s just a 700 metre walk to the lookout. After your hike, be sure to stop by Glass House Mountains Coffee for a delightful local roast.
Mount Beerburrum
Easily reached via Beerburrum Road, Mount Beerburrum features a challenging 3.5km return walk, taking approximately 1.5 hours. Be sure to wear non-slip shoes as the steep paved path leads to a fire tower with panoramic views of the surrounding park. After your hike, unwind with a picnic at Matthew Flinders Park or explore the nearby township for the rest of the day.
Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
For a more laid-back nature experience, head to the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. Spanning 55 hectares of subtropical rainforest, this reserve is a haven for nature lovers. The rainforest here is a living showcase of Queensland’s rich biodiversity, offering a peaceful escape into nature. Take a leisurely walk along the forest trails, explore the discovery centre, or simply take in the breathtaking views of the Glass House Mountains from the lookout. A visit here is both relaxing and educational, making it perfect for the whole family.
Mount Ngungun
One of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular walks, the Mount Ngungun track is a 2.8-kilometre trail that starts in open forest and offers breathtaking 360-degree views of Mount Tibrogargan, Mount Coonowrin and Mount Beerwah from the summit. Don’t forget to pack your camera to capture the stunning coast and hinterland in one shot. The hike takes around two hours and the path runs close to cliff edges so keep a close eye on children and be sure to exercise extra caution in instances of wet weather as the rocks can get very slippery.
With Capestone as your home, these extraordinary outdoor experiences are just a short drive away, offering the perfect balance of convenience and adventure.
