NB for Capestone within a year

Homes and businesses in Mango Hill and North Lakes are a step closer to getting the National Broadband Network, with build to commence on the network by June 2016.

Homes and businesses in Mango Hill and North Lakes are a step closer to getting the National Broadband Network, with build to commence on the network by June 2016. Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth MP and Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull highlighted the news today, during a visit to Capestone, the master planned community development at Mango Hill.

“This is the certainty local households and businesses have been waiting for,” Mr Howarth said. “I am pleased that after months of discussion and phone calls to Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull, I can say for sure that superfast broadband is a step closer for locals.”

NBN Co’s national rollout plan to June 2016 includes 1,530 households in Mango Hill and North Lakes. Currently selling Stage 6, Capestone is a development with NBN-ready telecommunications infrastructure.

Luke Howarth MP said this means people moving into Capestone will be able to connect to the NBN straight away, and surrounding suburbs will be able to tap into this existing infrastructure.

“It’s great to see developers like Urbex working with the Australian Government to ensure that not only their community has super-fast broadband, but that residents in surrounding suburbs will benefit also.

“I have been knocking on Minister Turnbull’s door for months now, calling for NBN in North Lakes and Mango Hill, and I am thrilled that the ball is rolling. This is the certainty local households and businesses have been waiting for.”

BMD Group Board Chairman and Managing Director Mick Power said residents of the Capestone development “will certainly enjoy the benefits of the faster broadband speeds delivered by the NBN network”.

“It will connect our community like never before.”

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull said the NBN is delivering in greenfields estates with more certainty and reliability.

“Since the election, we have increased the number of premises served by the NBN in greenfields from 54,000 to 160,000 and the NBN has reduced the waiting list for connections from more than 3,000 lots to less than 1,000.”

NBN Co provides monthly updates on its website showing areas that have reached build preparation, build commencement and that are ready for service.
